Moments from the weekend

Before I share some more pictures from Italy, here was our weekend in St. Petersburg.

I'll start with my "Picture of the Week".  Or should I call it the "Disturbing Picture of the Week"?  Maybe that should be my new theme for the upcoming year?

Granted, it was a warm day.  But really Mr. Bus Driver?

We spotted this group outside of Gostinyi Dvor, which is the old indoor marketplace on Nevsky Prospekt.  Wanting the old ways of Stalin back, and a return to a Communist regime.

We saw this beauty on Friday night

And the kitten at the food market on Saturday morning.  Too bad all we bought were vegetables & fruits

The highlight of the weekend (which you may have already seen on Facebook), was the 2nd Annual Harley Davidson Festival.  Welcome Bikers!

They were playing Russian Rock all day Saturday & Sunday.

I'd love to know what a Harley costs over here, considering the import taxes (current import tariff is 30% and any foreign-made cars are also subject to a "recycling fee", which Russian-made cars do not have to pay )

He was enjoying all of the attention

We were surprised by the size of the crowds.  Probably 1000+ bikes.  Only around 1/3 of them were Harleys, but it was still impressive.

We stumbled across a low budget film set.  It was definitely a period piece (1920's or 30's?).  Where was my Dad?  He could have had his moment in Russian cinema.

After all of that excitement, I was pretty thirsty.  Cheers!!!!

  1. Looks like you had a fun day ! And you're right, Dad would have done anything to have an extra's role in a Russian film.
